March 5, 2007 - At a Board of Selectmen meeting, FinCom Chair Chery Karlson refers to an understanding that Happy Hollow would stay open in the event of a school closure. See Video. One year later, in front of an audience of Loker parents at Loker's auditorium, she stated unequivocally that no side deal had been made.

March 26, 2007 - "...we wanted to make certain that this is one that would remain open, and we were told that it would be." FinCom Chair Cherry Karlson again refers to an understanding that Happy Hollow would stay open. See Video (same video as above - these two short clips are back to back)

April 29, 2007 Annual Town Meeting - Jeff Dieffenbach utters those now famous words, "We're probably at least 3-5 years away from having to make a closure..." Video Eight months later, he voted to close Loker.

September, 2007 The SC announces that it will not need to close a school any sooner than September, 2009

January 15, 2008 SC Meeting - Upon a motion by Mr. Dieffenbach, seconded by Dr. Jurist, the School Committee voted unanimously (4-0) (Ms. Pineault abstained) to keep Happy Hollow and Claypit Hill in full operation if it is necessary to move to a consolidated elementary school model.

January 16, 2008- Hearing about it for the first time, parents receive a note brought home in their childrens' backpacks that their school will be closing.

January 22, 2008 SC Meeting - agreed to reopen discussions on the 2 ½ schools model.

January 28, 2008 SC Meeting - continued discussion on elementary configuration model. Upon a motion by Dieffenbach, seconded by Jurist, SC voted unanimously to propose a budget $295,499 under FinCom guideline, which includes a 2 ½ school configuration for FY09.

February 4, 2008 SC Meeting - Additional Information for Happy Hollow and Loker

February 11, 2008 SC Meeting - A parent commented that adding a significant number of students would overburden Happy Hollow, and that Loker is bigger.

February 25, 2008 SC Meeting - A parent commented that the safety of the children is the highest priority and the safety expert’s opinion should be considered.

March 10, 2008 SC Meeting - Even after hearing the audio from one of the videos, the SC denies there was a deal.

March 24, 2008 SC Meeting - Dr. Burton discussed the draft timeline for moving to a 2 ½ school model.

March 31, 2008 SC Meeting - A question regarding the transportation costs in three redistricting scenarios was asked.

April 10, 2008
SC Meeting - The Board of Health proposal to put .5 FTEs back in the Public Health Department’s budget for a nurse may come to the floor of the Town Meeting. The School Committee suggested creating a committee to study the needs.
